Become a Certified Dive Guide with SSI
The Dive Guide program is the first step on an exciting journey. Learn to safely lead certified divers in various environments and conditions.

By giving dive briefings, doing site evaluations, and leading dives, you will become a confident Dive Guide in no time. Begin your diving career working as a Professional Dive Guide or continue the qualifications for Divemaster.

To become an SSI Divemaster, you need to be at least 18, have 40 logged dives to start (60 to certify), hold Stress & Rescue and current First Aid/O2 certs, pass a medical, and show experience/certifications in Deep, Navigation, and Night Diving, plus complete extensive theory, water skills, and practical training, essentially becoming a certified dive leader.

Prerequisites (Before Course Start)

• Age: Minimum 18 years old.
• Dives: At least 40 logged dives.

Certifications:

• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue (or equivalent).
• Current CPR/First Aid & O2 Provider (e.g., SSI React Right) within 2 years.
• Medical: Valid physician-signed medical statement (within 1 year).
• Specialty Experience: Experience in Deep, Navigation, and Night/Limited Visibility diving (can be gained during the course).

Course Requirements (To Certify)

• Dives: Minimum 60 logged dives to certify.
• Skills: Demonstrate mastery of dive skills, including buoyancy control and problem-solving.
• Theory: Pass exams on dive physics, physiology, planning, and emergency protocols.
• Practical: Lead dives, assist instructors, and participate in rescue/equipment workshops.
